What is an XML Sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a file that contains pages that exist in your website.
It is basically created for search engines, like Google, and not humans. This is because search engines use it to better understand your website.
XML sitemap tells search engines the pages that exist, and that needs to be crawled in your website.
Why Create an XML Sitemap?
An XML sitemap plays an important role in your website, by helping search engines better crawl your website.
While it plays an important role in your website, it doesn't affect your search rankings.
If you have any page that exists in your website, and you would like search engines to crawl it, then you need to create an XML sitemap to tell search engines about it.
Method 1: How to Create a Joomla Sitemap Without an Extension

To create a Joomla sitemap without an extension, goto xml-sitemaps.com. Once it opens, enter your Joomla URL into the URL field and click "Start" to start creating your Joomla sitemap.
After that, you will be told to wait for a while for it to create your Joomla sitemap for you. The process might take a little time, if your Joomla website has lots of links.
After crawling your Joomla website, it will show you "Complete" at the top of the modal. That means that the crawling is complete.
Now click on "View Sitemap Details".
After that, you will be shown another page that allows you download your Joomla sitemap file you just generated.
